Mid-Ohio Indy Lights: Jack Harvey secures maiden pole position
Jack Harvey leads an all-Schmidt front row after securing the first Indy Lights pole position of his career at Mid-Ohio on Saturday
The Brit looked strong right through the session, and secured his claim to the top spot with a fastest lap of 1m13.9519s.
"When we tested here in June we were pretty fast, so coming into the weekend we thought it was a pretty good opportunity to get pole," Harvey said.
"When we went to the new tyres we did two laps and my engineer said that we were P1 the whole time, so the car was pretty good.
"This afternoon we've got to try to aim to win, and the car has been pretty good all weekend so I don't see any reason why we can't do that."
Team-mate Luiz Razia will join Harvey on the front row, and the Brazilian said that he was pleased with the result after a recent run of poor form.
"I pushed as much as I could, but I just want to have a good weekend," he said.
"The last two weekends have been terrible for me, so I just want to be back in the [frontrunning] group and have a podium and maybe a win."
Zach Veach qualified third-fastest, although his result was accompanied by a bit of luck.
The Andretti driver spun just as he was taking the chequered flag, but did so immediately after where the flag was waved and then managed to continue under his own power, therefore avoiding a red flag and associated penalty.
Championship leader Gabby Chaves will join Veach on the second row, with Matthew Brabham recovering from a crash during practice yesterday to round out the top five.
