Jeanney to replace Villeneuve at Lydden Hill World Rallycross round
Davy Jeanney will replace Jacques Villeneuve at the Albatec Racing team for the AUTOSPORT World RX of Great Britain at Lydden Hill later this month
Villeneuve will be in the United States contesting the Indianapolis 500 on the same weekend.
Runner-up in last season's European Rallycross Championship, Jeanney tested a Peugeot 208 Supercar for Albatec at the end of last year as he assessed a number of options for 2014, but was unable to secure a full-time drive.
He says the lack of a regular seat in the World Rallycross Championship increases his motivation for the Lydden event.
"I have a really good relationship with Andy [Scott, Albatec team principal] as we know each other well since we have been racing against each other for quite a while now. There was really no reason not to join Albatec," said Jeanney.
"Not being able to compete in the whole championship gives me extra motivation, this is like a bonus for me towards next year, and it's giving me a good opportunity to work on getting really good results. I am really going to be 200 per cent committed."
Villeneuve, who is a permanent driver in the series, had a difficult rallycross debut in last weekend's season opener in Portugal.
A first-corner mistake in heat one was followed by a puncture and technical troubles which kept him out of the semi-finals. He will resume his place at the team in round three in Norway in June.
