The World Touring Car Championship will hold its penultimate round of the season at the Tianma Circuit in Shanghai, it was confirmed today.
The series was forced to look for alternative venues for its 6 November round in China after its proposed venue, the Guangdong International Circuit in Zhaoqing, dropped out.
Working alongside the Chinese Touring Car Championship, the WTCC looked at moving the event to the Shanghai International Circuit used for F1's Chinese Grand Prix, but a suitable date could not be agreed and Tianma was selected instead.
It will be the highest-profile meeting so far for the 2.05-mile circuit, which was opened in 2004 and is a regular CTCC venue. The circuit has been licensed by the FIA for Touring Car races.
