Tarquini fastest in Barcelona test
Gabriele Tarquini set the fastest time in testing for the European Touring Car Championship at the Barcelona circuit in Spain yesterday (Thursday), outpacing a horde of BMW runners in his Alfa Romeo 156
The Italian set a best lap of 1m54.77s in his Autodelta run car, 0.23s ahead of Jörg Müller, driving for BMW Team Deutschland (the rebranded Schnitzer team). The German's team-mate Dirk Müller (no relation) was third quickest, ahead of the reigning champion, Alfa convert Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Briton Andy Priaulx was 11th quickest in his BMW Team Great Britain car, ahead of the two new SEAT Toledo Cupra machines of Jordi Gene and Frank Diefenbacher.
