Super Production: Huisman ends Kox’s run

Duncan Huisman ended the winning streak of fellow Dutchman Peter Kox in the Super Production element of the FIA European Touring Car Championship, after the two collided in the early stages and Kox was fired into the wall and retirement

Huisman led away from pole as Norman Simon jumped ahead of his Ravaglia Motorsport BMW team mate Kox, who slipped past him at the Adelaide Hairpin on the opening lap. Kox then chased Huisman down and got ahead of him on the exit of Adelaide on the second lap, when Duncan overshot the corner due to a lack of front brakes.

Huisman wasn't about to lie down, however, and fought back at Kox. He drew alongside on lap three and a wheel banging session ensued, the upshot of which was Kox being spun into a concrete wall.

"I thought he was a hard racer and I found out," said Kox. "We didn't give each other a lot of room, and I came off worst."

Huisman said: "I has better speed but he showed me the grass and gave me no space at all. We touched and he spun in front of me."

Huisman's lead was extended when new second-placed man Simon suffered front-right suspension failure soon after: "I hit the kerb as normal and it just broke," said the German, which meant Huisman could cruise to victory.

Paulo Ruberti inherited second when his team mate Gianni Morbidelli and Peggan Andersson clashed , which also promoted the sole Nissan Primera in the field of Norway's Tommy Rustad. Morbidelli recovered to finish fourth, ahead of Andersson and Guido Kenis.
