Slovakia Ring WTCC: Rob Huff fastest for Lada in testing

Rob Huff was fastest for Lada in the World Touring Car Championship's Friday test at the Slovakia Ring

The 2012 world champion's 2m04.967s lap put him 0.433 seconds clear of the leading Citroen of ex-Formula 1 test driver Ma Qing Hua.

It was an odd session for the usually dominant Citroen factory team, with championship leader - and early Friday pacesetter - Jose Maria Lopez going off in the opening minutes.

Lopez beached his C-Elysee in the Turn 6 gravel trap, and although the car was retrieved to the pits in time to rejoin for the closing minutes, he could not improve on 10th place.

Team-mates Yvan Muller, who also went off at Turn 6 and picked up a puncture early on, and Sebastien Loeb were only fifth and eighth, as Campos driver Hugo Valente and Gabriele Tarquini got Chevrolet and Honda into the top five too.

Super TC2000 champion Nestor Girolami began his debut WTCC weekend with 12th place in the Nika Honda usually driven by Rickard Rydell.

Local driver Mato Homola, who is also making a guest appearance in Slovakia with Campos, was 18th.
