SEAT's rules appeal rejected
SEAT's appeal to the FIA International Court of Appeal against the changes to the World Touring Car regulations has been thrown out after a hearing last week deemed the request inadmissible
Representatives of SEAT, BMW, Chevrolet, the FIA and MSA were present at the hearing in which the Spanish manufacturer claimed that the World Touring Car Bureau should not have the authority to make changes to the technical regulations during a season.
The bureau altered the regulations to reduce the maximum boost pressure limit of SEAT's turbo diesel-powered Leons.
"The limit is a change of the technical regulations," SEAT Sport boss Jaime Puig said prior to the hearing.
"Nobody should be allowed to change the regulations during the season. The Bureau has the power to grant waivers, but these are always to make slower cars faster - this limit is not a waiver.
"We want a clarification to see if they have entered a championship where the rules can be changed whenever they want."
The Touring Car Bureau and FIA World Motorsport Council had previously both ruled SEAT's protest null and void.
