Qualifying: Colciago in class of his own
Roberto Colciago seemingly confirmed Alfa Romeo's dominance on home turf by setting a time of 1m46.223s around the Enna-Pergusa circuit - some 0.6s quicker than his factory team-mate Gabriele Tarquini
Colciago has dominated proceedings so far today having been quickest in both free practice sessions and the gap to former Formula 1 driver Tarquini is bigger now than what it was when the meeting began this morning.
Factory BMW driver Dirk Muller is beginning to make headway in his attempt to crack the Italian domination and secured third spot ahead of privateer Fabio Francia in another Alfa Romeo.
Reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi has made up some ground since this morning and snatched fifth in his BMW 320i from Britain's Andy Priaulx, also in a BMW. Conversely Nicola Larini has lost time since this morning and could manage no better than seventh in the last of the factory Alfas.
Alessandro Balzan did well to outqualify Jorg Muller for eighth ahead of Jordi Gene's Seat which rounded out the top ten.
