Priaulx not thinking about title yet
Andy Priaulx believes that there is no point in thinking about winning a third-straight World Touring Car Championship title at this stage of the season
The BMW driver took his first win of the season at Porto on Sunday, and he has closed the gap to the championship leader from nine points to just two.
Priaulx, Jorg Muller and Augusto Farfus are now a long way clear of the rest of the field in the title race, but the reigning world champion has said that he is not thinking about the title yet.
"It's too early to think about winning the title yet," he said. "At this stage you can only lose it.
"It's a case of taking it race by race. I've got to aim for good points finishes, and we have to drive to finish."
Priaulx was only seventh in Saturday's qualifying session at Porto, but he was happy with his effort because he feels that the success ballast is having a big impact on the performance of the cars.
"The weight is playing a big part," he said. "We have a big amount, so I have to drive accordingly.
"I didn't expect the win, but now at least everyone will stop asking me when I'm going to win my first race of the year."
Priaulx is currently tied in second place in the standings with Farfus, while Muller tops the table.
