Monza WTCC: Tarquini and Dudukalo penalised for qualifying crashes

Gabriele Tarquini and Aleksei Dudukalo have both been handed five-place grid penalties after causing accidents in a chaotic World Touring Car Championship qualifying session at Monza

Monza WTCC: Tarquini and Dudukalo penalised for qualifying crashes

Dudukalo's transgression was the most dramatic, as he misjudged his braking into the first chicane and speared into side of Lada team-mate James Thompson.

The Russian was out on the spot and eventually fell to 16th as others improved late on.

He will therefore start the opening race of the season from 21st position.

Tarquini also suffers a five-place grid penalty for race one, meaning he will start from 10th, directly behind Thompson's Lada.

The Italian was penalised for nudging Rene Munnich's SEAT into the gravel in the final minutes of Q1.
