Ice-racing star Dayraut to make WTCC debut at Monza
Ice-racing star Jean-Philippe Dayraut will make his World Touring Car Championship debut at Monza later this month in a BMW
The 43-year-old Frenchman, who has won four of the past five Andros Trophy contests, tested for the Anome team at Nogaro last week in a BMW 320 TC it has purchased from Zengo Motorsport.
Anome, a regular competitor in the VLN, is aiming to expand Dayraut's programme to include a full season in the WTCC.
Team manager Nicolas Boillot said: "We are really committed to putting together this programme, and we hope to achieve a good result at Monza in order to secure our participation in the full season.
"We are aware that this is a great challenge and there is a lot to do, but we have strong motivations because this programme would mark a significant step forward for our team.
"To be part of a top-level international series like WTCC was something we had dreamed for long time, and now we see that the dream may actually come true."
Anome will test again at Monza this week. The WTCC gets underway at the same circuit on March 24.
