Huff confident of podium finishes
Rob Huff is confident that Chevrolet can kick off the new World Touring Car Championship campaign in exactly the same way they ended the last - with podium performances
After Alain Menu took Chevrolet's maiden podium finish in the final round of the WTCC campaign in Macau, before being disqualified for a fuel irregularity, Huff sees no reason why the American car manufacturer cannot do even better.
"It was a tough year and a steep learning curve," said Huff on the Central Stage at the Autosport International Show. "We had a brand new car and Chevrolet were a brand new manufacturer in touring cars, so it was difficult but I was pleased with the way it finished.
"We got our podium which is what we aimed for and, although that got taken away, we were quick enough to get there. And that is what we are trying to aim for this year."
In fact, with a new generation Lacetti having just been launched, Huff thinks that victories could well be on the cards for 2006.
"For me I want to win at least a couple of races," he added. "I think that is achievable with the way we moved forwards last year. The other manufacturers have taken longer to get where we are, so we are looking at wins and podiums."
