Huff completes Monza double
Rob Huff completed a clean sweep of pole and two victories in this weekend's World Touring Car Championship round at Monza with a hard-fought win in this afternoon's reversed-grid race
Huff passed the SUNRED SEAT of polesitter Tiago Monteiro on the run into the first corner, but quickly found himself under pressure from Chevrolet team-mate Yvan Muller.
That pressure never abated, and indeed nearly ended in a similar disaster to the clash that took out Alain Menu earlier in the day when Muller tagged Huff's rear as the pair were braking for the Parabolica with a couple of laps remaining. Huff's car got momentarily out of shape, but he was able to gather it up and continue unharmed.
Muller was shown a bad sportsmanship flag immediately afterwards, but he kept up the pressure on his team-mate right to the flag. Just 0.2 seconds separated the pair at the finish.
Engstler BMW driver Kristian Poulsen triumphed in what had been a four-way battle for third until Tom Coronel (ROAL) dropped out of the pack on the final lap with a delaminating right-rear tyre. Monteiro was right behind Poulsen for fourth, with Menu coming from the back of the field to finish fifth.
