Harrison gets Honda drive
British driver Simon Harrison has secured a full-time European Touring Car Championship seat for this season. He'll be driving an independent Honda Civic Type-R for the Hong Kong-based GR Asia team
The former BTCC race-winner thus returns to the team with which he shone at the Macau Guia race in November last year. Harrison was in the running for a win before a controversial collision with BMW's Jorg Müller.
"To be racing in Europe is a fantastic opportunity, one that I have been working towards for many years," said 34-year-old Harrison. "We proved in Macau that the team has the expertise to take on the best Europe has to offer, and we plan to build on that throughout the year.
"We will not be content to simply go for the Independents' Championship, I want to get in amongst the factory cars as often as possible."
The team has recent experience in both the British and Asian Championships, and is in negotiations with a second driver.
