Free practice: Alfas dominate
Roberto Colciago and the factory Alfa Romeo squad dominated free practice for rounds five and six of the European Touring Car Championship at the Enna-Pergusa circuit in Italy
Having set the pace in the first session with a lap time of 1m47.017s, the Italian lowered the bar further in the second session with a superb 1m46.509s lap. Colciago's team-mates Nicola Larini and Gabriele Tarquini were second and third fastest just tenths behind.
Top privateer Fabio Francia was fourth fastest in yet another Alfa Romeo, while BMW's best Dirk Muller could only manage fifth quickest, just ahead of the first factory Seat of Frank Diefenbacher.
British star Andy Priaulx was seventh quickest having recovered from an incident in the first session at the Schumacher Chicane. Priaulx badly damaged the front right of his BMW 320i and did well to recover in the second session.
Factory BMW driver Jorg Muller could only manage eighth fastest just ahead of reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi and Alessandro Balzan.
