A world champion in waiting's tortuous path to recovery
Tiago Monteiro seemed destined to win the World Touring Car Championship last year, until a huge testing crash halted his charge. After early whispers of a swift racing return, he recounts his arduous (and incomplete) road to recovery
It's been almost a year since Tiago Monteiro suffered the testing accident that forced him to miss the end of the 2017 World Touring Car Championship season.

It may have been missed amid the clamour over Lewis Hamilton's seventh F1 title, but Britain had another world champion crowned last weekend. Mike Conway's WEC crown raises an old conundrum - does title glory make up for the pain of Le Mans defeat?
OPINION: The last hurrah for LMP1 this weekend will be an unfitting end for a class that produced some of sportscar racing's greatest-ever moments. That is what it should be remembered for, rather than the two-car demonstration run we'll get
