Huff pips Muller in second WTCC practice at Oschersleben
Rob Huff edged out Chevrolet team-mate Yvan Muller in the final practice session at Oschersleben, producing a last-gasp effort to snatch top spot in the final minute of the session
Having led for much of the session, Muller was spurred into a late attack of his own as a superb lap from Polestar Racing's Robert Dahlgren put the Volvo C30 at the head of the field, 0.076 seconds clear of Muller.
The Frenchman's response was immediate as he shaved almost two tenths from his personal best to move back into first, but Huff had already set a personal best in sector one and with 38s still on the clock he posted a 1m34.741s - leaving him more than three tenths clear of Muller and the rest of the field.
Alain Menu in the third Chevrolet Cruze also improved at the death but could not better Dahlgren's time, leaving the Frenchman fourth fastest.
ROAL Motorsport's Tom Coronel topped the session after the first six minutes, but dropped slightly and was edged out by SUNRED's Michel Nykjaer in the battle for fifth. As was the case in first practice, both drivers finished more than 1s off the ultimate pace.
Engstler duo Franz Engstler and Kristian Poulsen were split by SUNRED's Gabriele Tarquini - whose engine was changed ahead of this weekend - in the fight for seventh. Bamboo Engineering's Darryl O'Young meanwhile rounded out the top 10.
