Tarquini beats BMWs to race two win
SEAT's Gabriele Tarquini celebrated his 46th birthday by winning the second World Touring Car Championship race of the day at Curitiba
The Italian took the lead from ROAL Motorsport BMW driver Felix Porteiro on the opening lap and held it to the end despite heavy pressure first from the Spaniard, and later from Andy Priaulx.
The defending world champion passed Porteiro with a late-braking move into the first corner on lap nine, but despite latching onto Tarquini's tail he was unable to improve on second place.
"If you'd said before the weekend we would be third in the championship after this weekend I would have ripped your hand off," said Priaulx. "It has been a difficult weekend, but we've worked hard and improved the car a lot."
Jorg Muller took fourth for Schnitzer Motorsport after a dramatic battle with race one winner Yvan Muller's SEAT Leon TDI, with teammate Augusto Farfus sixth ahead of Rickard Rydell (SEAT).
Tom Coronel had started the race in pole position behind the wheel of his SUNRED Leon TFSI, but dropped down the order at the start and eventually took ninth behind the fourth diesel SEAT of Jordi Gene.
