Donington loses WTCC race
Donington Park, which hosted a round of this year's European Touring Car Championship is not on the calendar next year when the series will be upgraded to World Championship status. Instead the UK round of the championship will be held at Silverstone
It is not clear why the switch has been made, according to this week's Autosport magazine. No comment was forthcoming from either Donington or Silverstone. WTCC organisers cited building work on a new pits complex at Donington, but that is not scheduled to begin until the autumn - the UK race is on the calendar in May.
Previous plans to start the season with a flyaway race in Mexico have been dropped and the calendar now starts with a race at Monza and concludes at Macau. Mexico City is still on the schedule, with a race on June 26, but plans to run a round in Buenos Aires have been dropped. Argentina could still get a round in 2006.
