Recently crowned FIA European Touring Car Cup winner Fernando Monje will compete in the remaining five rounds of this season's World Touring Car Championship with SUNRED Engineering.
The 19-year-old Spaniard sealed the four-round ETCC title with a double victory at last weekend's Imola finale to join a list of champions that includes Fabrizio Giovanardi and James Thompson.
Monje had a full-season WTCC entry this year, but only competed in round two at Valencia driving a SEAT Leon TDI. He will now switch to the newer-spec Leon WTCC, powered by SEAT's latest 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol unit.
"I am fully focused on the WTCC now, I love the cars and the championship," said Monje. "I will have to fight hard because there are fantastic drivers and I don't know the tracks. For this year my aim is to learn as much as I can to be ready for 2013."
Round eight of the WTCC takes place at Curitiba in Brazil, on July 22.
