WRC support series prize for winner of Junior BRC in 2016

The winner of next year's British Rally Championship junior category will receive a subsidised entry into the Drive DMACK Trophy series that supports the World Rally Championship

Drivers aged under 26 years of age are eligible for the BRC category, which runs FIA homologated R2-specification cars on a control DMACK tyre.

Cars eligible include the Ford Fiesta R2T, Peugeot 208 R2 and Opel Adam R2.

The Drive DMACK Trophy supports the World Rally Championship on its four round calendar, running all M-Sport built Ford Fiesta R2T cars.

M-Sport Poland prepare the cars ensuring parity between the drivers, who use the machinery on an arrive-and-drive basis.

The winner of the championship receives a full seven round WRC2 campaign in a DMACK-backed Ford Fiesta R5.

Dick Cormack - Managing Director of DMACK - reckons the prize will bring out the best in a competitive crop of young drivers.

"The Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy has been hugely competitive and successful - proving the performance of our products on two-wheel-drive cars on the world's toughest stages," said Cormack.

"We are delighted to be able to link into that from our home rally championship.

"It's a huge prize and one which we are sure will create some excellent competition."

DMACK have already announced that they will run a two-car team in the BRC1 category - for the front-running R5 cars - with Max Vatanen the sole confirmed driver. Vatanen - son of two-time British champion Ari - will drive a Fiesta.

British Rally Championship manager Iain Campbell believes that DMACK's willingness to support Vatanen shows how serious the tyre manufacturer is about its BRC campaigns.

"DMACK were one of the first to signal their intentions by announcing that they would run Max [Vatanen] next year in the BRC1 category and to have them support the Junior BRC is fantastic," he said.

"DMACK have helped nurture young talent over the years and it will be no different in 2016.
"The DMACK Junior BRC philosophy will be to create a launch pad for drivers to further their rallying education and careers to then graduate into the BRC1 category or onto the European or World stage.

"By offering a superb prize incentive, this will hopefully attract the best young drivers in the country and even the world to compete on our events next year."
