SS13, Karoutes 2: Burns set to attack

Richard Burns closed the gap on rally-leader Colin McRae to just 14.8s after the seventh and final stage of the Acropolis Rally's second leg after blasting through the 18.89km SS13, Karoutes 2

Burns completed the test in 12m03.4s - 6.1s quicker than McRae's Ford and 1.1s ahead of the second fastest car, the Focus of Francois Delecour.

Petter Solberg edged McRae to take third, 5.4s behind team mate Burns, with Carlos Sainz in fifth making it three Fords in the top five.

With road position still set to be a factor in tomorrow's final leg of seven stages, the situation leaves Burns perfectly poised to pounce. The Englishman will start third on the road again, behind McRae and Sainz.

Solberg, Harri Rovanpera's Peugeot and Tommi Makinen's Mitsubishi complete the top six as the cars head for the day's final Parnassos service.
