Sordo excluded from seventh
Dani Sordo has been excluded from seventh place in the Rally Japan for failing to correctly fasten his seat belts when he rejoined after a late incident
The Kronos Citroen number two stopped in the penultimate stage after Luis Perez Companc crashed and partially blocked the road.
Although other cars before and after managed to squeeze through with less delay, Sordo lost over a minute and sixth place to Toshi Arai.
Kronos asked that the stewards award Sordo a notional time for the stage, but the request was declined.
When they viewed the on-board footage from Sordo's car, the stewards noted that Sordo and co-driver Marc Marti had not correctly refastened their seat belts when they resumed the stage after stopping for Perez Companc, and therefore decided to exclude them from the rally.
The decision moves Petter Solberg up to seventh, and puts Production winner Fumio Nutahara into the overall points.
