Solberg undecided on 2010 car

Petter Solberg says he is ready to walk away from the Citroen C4 WRC if he doesn't get the support to compete for next year's World Rally Championship

Citroen team principal Olivier Quesnel is confident Solberg will drive the C4 next season - and he has stated publicly that Solberg's season will not be interfered with by the factory team.

Solberg's choice of car was still not 100 per cent confirmed, despite setting fastest times and taking fourth place on his C4 debut in last week's Catalunya Rally.

"[The choice of car for] Next year depends on how the C4 goes on gravel and the size of support from Citroen," said Solberg. "If I can't get the full support for the championship then there's no point.

"I am working on that now. We will see, if there's any doubt about that support, then I won't go. But if they will support me, I will go for Citroen."

Solberg added that his choice of car remained academic as he still hadn't secured the finance for the second year of the Petter Solberg World Rally Team.

"We have the medium sponsors," he said, "but not the title sponsor. We are talking to lots of people and I'm sure one of them will come through, but without that title sponsor, nothing is going to happen. What about the AUTOSPORT World Rally Team? That would work!"

Quesnel reaffirmed his position that Solberg would be allowed to win rallies, saying: "Why not? He's a customer. It's good for rallying to have Petter there, he is a world champion and he can win - he has the talent to win rallies again.

"Petter has bought a car for next year. The deal is that he has the car now, but it's next year that's important to us because we need to make some money. He has one car and enough spares to build a second car."

Solberg will begin his Rally GB preparations when he tests the C4 WRC in Wales this week.
