Solberg dismisses Peugeot speculation

Petter Solberg and his management have dismissed rumours linking him with a move from Subaru to Peugeot next season. Reports in the Norwegian press last week stated that top brass in the French team were admirers of his talents

Solberg's contract with Subaru expires at the end of this season, while Richard Burns, Gilles Panizzi and Harri Rovanpera are all facing the end of their current contracts with Peugeot. But Solberg denies he has been in contact with the reigning world champions.

"I have seen this report," Solberg told AUTOSPORT. "But there's nothing for me to say. Maybe somebody has been talking to somebody, I don't know - but nobody has spoken to me direct.

"I'm happy where I am," he added. "I'm not sure how long it would take to sort my contract out, but it would be good to get it done as quickly as possible. I am already talking with Subaru, all of the time."

Solberg's manager Jim Carlsen told wrc.com that all his efforts were concentrated on keeping his driver at Subaru.

"I have heard the rumours about Peugeot, but we have had no contact with Peugeot and had no negotiations with Peugeot," he said. "All our focus is with Subaru. Their car is very good and the package is very competitive so all our focus for next year is with Subaru."
