Revised Mitsubishi to put Makinen back on track?
Four time World Rally Champion Tommi Makinen has a revised Mitubishi Lancer Evolution for his home event -- and the Finn feels it could re-ignite his bid to retain his title
"There are quite a lot of changes to the car," he explained. "The two main things are that there is much less weight, especially in the front which is much lighter, and that makes the handling much better. We also have a new computer system to control the differentials.
"It feels good and I hope it's fast enough. We have done as much as possible, and we have done a big amount of work, with many days testing. Many days and many kilometres. We cannot do any more. We are very well prepared.
"The pressure is not on us. We can only go and try to do our best."
Makinen hasn't won an event since the opening rally at Monte Carlo in January. The reigning champion is currently fifth in the overall standings, but he is relaxed about the situation. "At the moment I'm not worried about that at all. There are still 60 more points to go and we are 15 behind.
"If everything goes like we want it to, we have a strong chance."
