Stage 22 - Margam:

Martin arrived at the finish with a fire under the bonnet.

Delecour has retired in the stage with no drive from the transmission.

Auriol is out having run OTL

Radstrom has made it to the finish, but still has to get back to Cheltenham with oil pressure problems.

Stage 21 - Rheola:

Auriol has hit a rock and damaged the front of the car. The Toyota only has three wheels at the end of the stage.

Sainz running slowly on stage with hazard lights on.

Juha Kankkunen left the service area before SS20 4mins late, following a clutch problem at the Neath services. This gives him 40secs of road penalities. Prodrive boss David Richards said: 'We felt it was better to be safe than sorry.'

Delecour has lost fourth and fifth gears.

Radstrom has lost oil pressure

Evans is out with a blown engine.

Petter Solberg punctured a tyre, and limped 12km to the end of the stage.

Stage 20 - Resolfen:

Solberg lost his brakes after a disc expoloded into a tight left-hander, but managed not to hit anything. He did the last 7kms of the stage slowing down with the gears.

Kankkunen had a precautionary gearbox change at Neath service. The team had a problem bleeding the clutch, and Juha was late leaving while they fixed it.

Delecour reports gearbox problems. They have elected not to change the unit at service, and they will run the final stages 'with our fingers crossed.'

Stage 19 - Rheola:

All drivers have commented on how slippery the stage is.

Makinen has oil pressure and temperature problems, and said he lost a lot of time in the stage.

Marcus Gronhom has crashed 'a long way off the road', and is out of the rally. The crew are OK

Armin Schwarz has also gone off, and has lost a wheel. The Skoda driver is trying to get to the end of the stage.

Radstrom lost the steering servo during the stage. 'I'm knackered!' explained the Ford driver.

Stage 18 - Rhondda:

Formula 2 driver Tapio Laukkanen has retired from the rally. He suffered a fuel pump failure, and it could not be repaired in service.

Gronholm changed a puncture before the start, then suffered two more in the stage. The mousse did its job. 'I lost maybe 5secs, no more. The mousse worked. I just had to be careful not to hit any more stones.

Makinen arrived at the stage finish on just a wheel rim on the right front. 'I have no front brakes either,' reported Makinen. Co-driver Mannisenmaki added: 'It happened 12kms from the end of the stage, and we lost about one and a half minutes. '

Evans also had a puncture, damaging the front wing of the SEAT. 'It happened early in the stage, and I didn't know whether to stop and change it. We carried on, and 3kms later it exploded. It's disappointing, because we weren't a million miles from the big guns, it was flowing nicely, then bang!'

Fourth placed Rovanpera rolled, losing 20 secs, and cracking the windscreen against a fir tree, some of which is still attached to the car.

Auriol has benefitted from the others' problems moving up to fifth. He needs to finish third if Burns wins to keep second place in the championship. 'I drive as fast as I can, but that alone won't be enough.'

Radstrom had a 360 degree spin in fifth gear. 'It was over 100mph in a narrow part of the stage... We are lucky to be here. All you can do is hold onto the steering wheel and wait until it stops!'
