Pirelli encouraged by ISC deal
Pirelli's motorsport director Paul Hembery has praised the FIA's work in the wake of its agreement with the World Rally Championship's new global promoter ISC
The 10-year deal, agreed this morning, is a first for the WRC and Hembery says it is the first step to putting the WRC at the centre of the sporting world.
"Clearly this is fantastic news for the sport," he said. "The first point to make is to say a big thanks to the FIA. This is a big move to take the sport in the right direction and it has come about thanks to the foresight and great understanding from the FIA.
"It is the first step and the first in a number of changes which need to be made in the WRC, but we're on track right now to put the WRC in the position it needs and deserves. I'm really excited about this news and the future of the WRC."
Pirelli is the control tyre supplier to the WRC and the major investor in the WRC's young driver programme.
