McRae waiting on Ford decision
Colin McRae expects to hear within the next few days whether his current employer Ford is in a position to offer him a contract for next year
The Scottish driver's current deal with the car manufacturer ends at the end of this season. While Ford is eager to retain the services of the 1995 champion, it has yet to make an offer to McRae until budgets for next year are finalised.
It is thought that some of Ford's top brass met in Germany last weekend and the outcome of those talks could decide whether McRae stays at the team or switches to French outfit Citroen at the end of the season.
"We're still talking with a few people," McRae told Scottish newspaper The Herald. "Hopefully, things will move forward a bit with Ford this week, then we can see where we stand."
McRae is hoping to improve his slender title hopes in the Sanremo Rally this weekend. The Scot has been in action yesterday (Monday) and today as the drivers recce the tarmac stages ahead of Friday's first stage.
