Martin Rules Out Drivers' Title
Markko Martin has ruled out challenging for the driver's title this season - despite being only seven points behind title leader Sebastien Loeb
The Estonian has been a consistent points scorer so far this season despite not being in contention for a rally victory. He lies third in the WRC drivers' championship with 11 of the 16 rounds remaining.
Despite that, Martin believes he won't be able to fight for the drivers crown.
Martin told wrc.com: "I don't think it's realistically something I'm going to be in contention for this year. My objective is to help Peugeot win the manufacturers' title. If we can achieves this, I'll be very happy.
"In New Zealand I found a way forward adapting to the 307. By left-foot braking more, I was able to drive in a more effective way. However that was the last day of the rally and conditions everywhere else were different.
"If it was as easy as changing one thing on the car then would have worked it out by now. However, the car is strong and reliable and that puts us in good position here this weekend."
