Higgins Chasing Points in Greece

Britain's Mark Higgins is preparing himself for the biggest fight of his World Rally Championship career on this week's Acropolis Rally

Higgins Chasing Points in Greece

Higgins was holding a comfortable sixth overall - and top Ford in his 2003-specification Focus on last month's Rally Italia - before a transmission problem dropped him to tenth. Despite running a two-year old car, the Manxman is chasing points in Greece this week.

"It used to be the case that if you came to Greece with a good car, you could be looking at a top six finish," said Higgins.

"This week it's going to be tough. There are so many World Rally Cars out, and well driven ones. That said, though, I'm well prepared here. On Monday I completed 60km at a test and was really happy with the way the car was running.

"That's the first time I've ever done a test before I've contested a world championship event in a World Rally Car."

Higgins has tackled the Acropolis Rally once before. He drove a works Nissan Almera in 1998, but retired early with gearbox problems.
