Gronholm: Leg Two was Boring

Marcus Gronholm described his second leg of the Rally Deutschland as 'boring'

The winner of Rally Finland has been in a comfortable third position throughout the leg, ending the day more than a minute behind second placed Francois Duval and nearly two mintues ahead of his teammate Markko Martin in fourth.

Gronholm admitted that because he has been unable to challenge the dominant Citroens in front, and is not threatened by Martin behind, the day had been rather tedius.

"Nothing has changed much since yesterday; to be honest, it has been a little bit boring," said Gronholm. "There is no way that I am going to catch either of the Citroens in front and I am quite safe from behind as well.

"The car has worked well, but I have not really been pushing it today. I think we will end up third tomorrow, but we still have six stages to drive so it is far from over yet."

Martin also admitted there will be little he can do tomorrow, on the third and final day, and he will likely finish fourth. Martin started the day in seventh, but moved into the position after others misfortune.

Martin said: "I have to be happy with that. We made up some places today, but this is where we stop. The only way that we could improve things is to have one or two less Citroens in front - but I doubt that is going to happen!

"I'm quite glad that it didn't rain today, otherwise the stages would have been incredibly risky."
