Greek Weight Scales Investigated

The fines handed out to the four underweight cars have been brought into question after stewards decided to have the weighing scales verified

Subaru's Petter Solberg, Chris Atkinson and Stephane Sarrazin, as well as Mitsubishi's Gigi Galli, were all given large fines after they were not "technically conforming to the regulations during the rally (under permitted weight)."

Mitsubishi were fined 10,000 EUR for Galli and Subaru 60,000 EUR. Solberg was responsible for 30,000 EUR of the fine, with Atkinson 20,000 EUR and Sarrizin 10,000 EUR.

However, after meeting today at the Lamia service park, stewards considered that the scales used for weighing the cars at pre-event scrutineering and those used at Lamia Service Park could be different.

The scales will now be verified by the Metrology Department at Greek Ministry of Development. Should the scales prove to be different, stewards reserve the right to review the fines awarded at a later date.

Cars must weigh more than 1,380kg with the driver and co-driver included, and more than 1,230kg without the crew.
