Grapevine: Scott to represent Burns Foundation
Former World Rally Championship television presenter Angus Scott will represent the Richard Burns Foundation at O2 Golf Live in Buckinghamshire this weekend
Scott will be up against other personalities such as British tennis ace Tim Henman. The personalities will join forces with professional golfers such as Colin Montgomerie, Ian Poulter and Retief Goosen for Friday's three-hole challenge with a £5,000 charity donation up for grabs. If Scott and his professional partner win, the money will be going straight to the Richard Burns Foundation.
"There's going to be a lot of stiff competition out there, but as it's for charity I hope that it's at least going to be good natured," said Scott. "I'm sure playing is going to be a lot harder and more nerve-wracking than presenting - particularly with someone like Colin Montgomerie watching you - but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that the prize money ends up going to the Richard Burns Foundation."
Scott formerly covered the World Rally Championship for ITV in Britain, before covering football for Setanta. He now fronts Al Jazeera's new English language sports channel based in London.
"I think the Richard Burns Foundation is a fantastic cause," he added. "The courage and determination that Richard displayed in the face of his terrible illness is an example to everyone, and of course it goes way beyond the sport of rallying. That's why it's particularly nice to see Richard's name out there amongst those of the top golf professionals and raise awareness of his Foundation in this way."
