Ford Claimed Lost Part Lead to DQ
Ford told the Rally GB stewards that a missing part could have led to Toni Gardemeister's disqualification from the Wales Rally GB
Gardemeister's Ford Focus was found to be under the 1230 kg limit for a car without crew by up to 5kg, on each of the five times the car was weighed on approach to this evening's service period.
The Finn was lying in ninth place at the end of Leg One and will now take no further part in the event.
The disqualification came after a Stewards meeting this evening. The Steward's report detailed that Ford believed that the reason the car was underweight could be down to a missing part following a collision.
However, that part - a section of the underbody protection - was found to only weigh 2kg. The Stewards emphasised that the car may be weighed at any point during the event and confirmed the exclusion.
