Citroen expect 'big day' on Saturday

Citroen team principal Olivier Quesnel says this year's Rallye Deutschland will be won and lost on tomorrow's eight stages - which constitutes almost half of the mileage of the Trier-based event

After a day in the Mosel vineyards, Quesnel's number one driver Sebastien Loeb is 19.9 seconds ahead of Ford's World Rally Championship leader - and Loeb's chief title rival - Mikko Hirvonen.

"Day two is the big day," said Quesnel. "Today, it was hard to find a good rhythm for the drivers - the stages were difficult like this.

"But tomorrow, they flow more and they should suit Sebastien more. We saw last year that Mikko was quite close to Sebastien in the vineyard stages, so I'm not surprised at today."

Quesnel added that, while changeable weather would suit Loeb more, he hoped it would stay dry for rally fans.

Quesnel said: "Yes, Sebastien does deal with the changes very well, he's always good when it gets complicated, but at the same time we want people to come out and watch the rally."
