Chris Atkinson set to rejoin for final day of Rally Mexico

Monster World Rally Team driver Chris Atkinson is expected to restart for the final day of Rally Mexico after going off the road on SS16

Chris Atkinson set to rejoin for final day of Rally Mexico

The Australian was running in eighth place when he was caught out by a corner after the flying finish. He had been suffering from brake problems at the time.

Monster team manager Derek Dauncey said: "It sounds like Chris has lost the brakes. He was talking about a brake problem in the stage and that fits with the way the split times were starting to drop off. [Team-mate] Ken [Block] had the same problem.

"It's a real shame, Chris was going very well. It sounds like the car will be OK to start again tomorrow, but the problem then is that we expect Chris to be second on the road which will make it difficult for him to improve on the times he's been setting for the last couple of days."
