Burns to Undergo Surgery
Former world rally champion Richard Burns is to undergo surgery at a top London hospital on Tuesday in his continuing battle with a brain tumour
A statement issued on behalf of the Briton, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2003, said that further news would be issued following the operation.
"Since being diagnosed with an astrocytoma, a form of brain tumour, in November 2003, the 2001 World Rally Champion has followed a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy," said the statement.
"Burns has been recovering very well since leaving hospital last summer, however he has had health problems in recent weeks. Further news will be issued following today's surgery. The media, friends and fans are asked to respect the family's privacy at this time."
