Valentino Rossi has confirmed that he will drive a Ford Focus WRC when he contests the Rally GB next month.
The MotoGP champion was already due to use a Ramsport-prepared Ford for the Monza Rally, which he won last year and is entering as a warm-up before his third attempt at a World Rally Championship round. Today at Valencia he indicated that he would remain with Ford for the British event as well.
"During the winter I will do for sure Monza and the RAC (GB) Rally in England," Rossi said. "I will race with the Ford, and I also have some gravel tests for the WRC, so it's a tight schedule."
Rossi has long been a fan of rallying, and first contested the Rally GB with a Peugeot 206 in 2002, only to crash out early on. But he drove more cautiously when he returned to the WRC in New Zealand two years ago, finishing 11th in a Subaru. This year's Rally GB will be his first WRC appearance since then.
"I love the rally cars, it's one of my great passions, and unfortunately for me the only time during the year (I can do it) is November and December," said Rossi.
"But I'm always quite excited because I always have fun with the car, and there's less pressure compared with the motorcycle."
