Tommy Rustad moves to Marklund for 2015 European Rallycross

Norwegian Tommy Rustad will drive a Marklund Motorsport VW Polo RX in the 2015 European Rallycross Championship

Rustad contested the series this year in his own HTB Racing Volvo C30 Supercar, finishing sixth overall.

The former World and British Touring Car racer's best result of the season came at Mettet, Belgium, where he qualified tenth at the Intermediate classification and fourth in semi-final two, missing a place in the final by one position.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity Marklund Motorsport and HTB Racing gives me to have better conditions for success in the European Championship," said Rustad.

"Marklund Motorsport is one of the most professional teams in rallycross, and they have developed the VW Polo RX Supercar into a winning car.

"This is my best rallycross commitment so far and I'm looking forward to testing the car and working together with Anton Marklund and Toomas Heikkinen."

Rustad contested the British Touring Car Championship in 1998, winning the Independents' crown in a Renault Laguna. He raced in the European Rallycross Championship in 2006 and finished third overall, driving a Ford Focus.

The European Championship will be held at six rounds of the World Rallycross Championship in Belgium, Germany, Norway, Spain and Italy.

Rustad will also compete in the World Rallycrosss event at Holjes in Sweden.
