Tamas Pal Kiss postpones World Rallycross Championship debut
Hungarian single-seater convert Tamas Pal Kiss has been forced to withdraw from making his World Rallycross Championship debut in Germany this weekend
The GP3 race winner and 2014 Auto GP runner-up has been racing a Skoda Fabia Supercar in Hungarian rallycross this season as he gears up for an increased World RX programme in 2016, scoring one victory to date.
In the other three events this season, Kiss has been hampered by mechanical problems.
More of these at Nyirad a fortnight ago mean Kiss is unable to compete at the Estering world championship round.
"I am very disappointed. I had started to prepare for the event with my management and I've received a lot a support from the fans for the Estering event," he told AUTOSPORT.
"There was nothing we could do to race with other teams with such short notice, so I've been forced to withdraw.
"The Nyirad race was my worst this season. Unfortunately we suffered technical issues, which took too much time to repair and I lost a lot of valuable points in the championship.
"After numerous technical issues and not having found each other's proper working method, I and my sponsors had decided to look for further opportunities [than with my current team]."
The Hungarian is now speaking to other teams in the World RX paddock about a possible drive.
"I am glad that even in such a short time, I have already had several valuable meetings with one of top teams in the sport regarding a future co-operation," he said.
"I'm at the Estering this weekend anyway to see the racing and meet people."
Kiss believes the Italian round at Franciacorta in October is the most likely date for his World RX debut.
