Robin Larsson graduates to Audi Supercar for 2014 World Rallycross

Rallycross TouringCar star Robin Larsson is set to contest selected rounds of the 2014 World Rallycross Championship at the wheel of a new Audi A1 Supercar

The 21-year-old Swede made his Supercar debut at the final round of the Swedish championship last year, driving for VW Dealer Team Sweden, run by Kristoffersson Motorsport, but for 2014 will form his own team.

The new team will be backed up by the experience of Larsson's double European champion father Lars, and four-time championship runner-up Michael Jernberg.

The chassis of the new Audi will be built by prolific rallycross car-builder Ingvar Gunnarsson.

"It feels great to have so much experience in the team," said Larsson.

"The step from TouringCar to Supercar is a big one and I need to focus on the driving and learning those new skills so having a lot of good people around me to look after the car and the team is a big help.

"Our goal is to run in the full FIA European Rallycross Championship, and of course the Swedish round of the world championship in Holjes, and then to develop the team and progress to the world championship in the future."

Larsson finished second to Irishman Derek Tohill in the TouringCar standings last season, driving a Skoda Fabia.
