Istanbul World Rallycross: Tanner Foust joins Ken Block in pull-out

Tanner Foust has followed fellow American Ken Block in pulling out of this weekend's World Rallycross Championship round in Turkey

Istanbul World Rallycross: Tanner Foust joins Ken Block in pull-out

Foust had been expected to drive for the Marklund team at ex-Formula 1 venue Istanbul Park, but due to the political situation between Turkey and Syria - and on advice from the American government - both Foust and Block have stayed at home.

"It was a really hard decision and I'm sorry to disappoint the fans, but I'm not able to be there this weekend," said Foust, who cited personal reasons for his absence.

"I'm looking forward to having a chance to race in Turkey in the future."

Block added: "I'm very disappointed to be withdrawing my entry from World RX in Turkey this weekend.

"Unfortunately, I have a personal issue that is keeping me from competing.

"I enjoyed my last time in Turkey for the WRC rally [in 2010], so hopefully I can return to Turkey some day in the future for another race."

Recently crowned World Rallycross champion Petter Solberg is present in Turkey and told AUTOSPORT: "It's a real shame for those guys.

"I have to say, the organisers here have made us really welcome and it looks like they have a great show to put on with us."
