Former British Rallycross champion O'Donovan joins Lydden World RX

Former British Rallycross champion Ollie O'Donovan will race in the AUTOSPORT World RX of Great Britain, Lydden Hill's World Rallycross Championship round, as part of a Supercar return

The Irish driver beat British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan to the British series title in 2007.

He will return to the sport in a Ford Focus for the third round of the British Championship at Knockhill next week in preparation for his world championship outing.

"I won't get time to test before Knockhill, but I've never done a test in my life, I always just get in and go," said O'Donovan.

"I just want to be part of the world championship when it comes here.

"Those boys are on a different pace, but if I could make the semi-finals I'd be happy.

"I know Lydden well, I like the circuit and I don't think I'll be a million miles away from someone like [British driver] Andy Scott."

London-based Irishman O'Donovan will contest all the remaining rounds of this year's British championship.

His car will be run by experienced rallycross preparation company Tony Bardy Motorsport.

"I like Bardy, we worked together for three years and had a good relationship," said O'Donovan.

"It's great that I'm going to race a Supercar again."
