Eric Faren graduates to Supercar for 2014 World Rallycross

Swede Eric Faren will graduate from the Super1600 support category to Supercar for selected rounds of the World Rallycross Championship this season

Faren will make his debut at the AUTOSPORT WorldRX of Great Britain as he embarks on a programme of five events in a race-winning Citroen DS3.

"My whole career has been a preparation for this," said Faren, who will drive for his own team run by his father Ronny Larsson.

"We made a decision to work for a Supercar programme after last season, and it feels really good now to make my debut at Lydden Hill. We are still working to do as many races as possible.

"We tested for about 18 kilometers at Kinnekulle, my local circuit in Sweden, which was really good. It felt quite comfortable. I wasn't pushing 100 per cent, but when you are not over the limit the Supercar feels quite similar to a Super1600 car. Obviously everything just happens a lot faster, and the acceleration is huge."

Faren plans to race in Great Britain, Norway, Finland, Sweden and France.

"I'm still working on things at the moment, but that is the plan. I feel like I need to do Holjes [Sweden], and France of course will be amazing. We know that this car can be in the final if it is driven well.

"My main hopes are to be able to get the potential out of the car. I just want to learn as quickly as possible. I feel that it is possible to make the semi-finals if things go well, it's great that I know the car can do it!"
