Salo credits consistency for Risi win
Mika Salo reckons the #82 Risi Competizione Ferrari's reliability and consistency was the key to its second consecutive Le Mans GT2 triumph
The Finn and team-mates Jaime Melo and Pierre Kaffer managed to out-last all their rivals and emerged on top of a battle that had six cars still on the lead lap quarter of the way into the race.
"We had a lot of opposition," Salo admitted. "There were more quick cars than last year, but it's easier when you've done it once and know how to do it.
"You don't have to be fastest, you have to not make mistakes."
With Ferrari openly eyeing Le Mans as a future project amid the uncertain situation in Formula 1 - and company president Luca di Montezemolo making a high profile visit to the event to act as official starter - Salo hopes the marque's second straight GT2 victory might be the precursor to an assualt on outright honours.
"I'm really hoping this is a real option because I want to challenge the Peugeots and Audis," he said.
"LMP1 is what people care about and I want to win overall, not just in GT2."
