Romain Dumas keeps Porsche's 919 on top in Paul Ricard WEC test

Romain Dumas set a best lap of 1m37.960s aboard the solo Porsche 919 Hybrid to eclipse team-mate Neel Jani's morning best of 1m38.264s.

His lap brought the Porsche to within almost half a second of its fastest time from last year's WEC test at Ricard.

The Porsche's lap put it nearly a second-and-a-half up on the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, which recorded a 1m39.393s lap in the hands of Benoit Treluyer.

The R18 spent much of the second four-hour session in the pits undergoing what was described by Audi as a "mechanical repair".

The new Toyota TS050 HYBRID, running in low-downforce aerodynamic configuration unlike its rivals, ended up third fastest with a 1m39.559s from Anthony Davidson.

Jonny Kane claimed top spot in LMP2 aboard the Strakka Racing Gibson-Nissan 015S with a 1m46.976s, which put him over half a second up on the RGR/Morand Ligier-Nissan JSP2 in the hands of Bruno Senna.

Davide Rigon was quickest in the GTE Pro class aboard his AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE.

His 1m58.479s was just over two tenths quicker than the best of the Ganassi Ford GT with Andy Priaulx at the wheel.
