Rebellion to continue WEC LMP1 programme with unchanged drivers

Top LMP1 privateer Rebellion Racing has revealed its intent to continue in this year's World Endurance Championship with an unchanged driver line-up

The Anglo-Swiss squad had confirmed that it has entered a pair of updated AER-engined Rebellion R-Ones for the defence of its privateer P1 drivers' and teams' titles in 2016.

The lead car will again be driven by 2015 champions Nicolas Prost and Mathias Beche, and Nick Heidfeld, who missed the final three races.

Matheo Tuscher, who joined the team for two races in place of Daniel Abt, will continue in the second entry alongside Alexandre Imperatori and Dominik Kraihamer.

The entry lists for the WEC and the Le Mans 24 Hours, its blue-riband round, will be announced on February 5 in Paris.

Rebellion team manager Bart Hayden said that there was a "lot of room for improvement" with the reliability of the R-One/AER package.

"Together with AER we have been working hard on addressing the issues that came up in 2015 and we will make the necessary steps forward," he explained.

The late decision by Rebellion to swap from a normally-aspirated Toyota

V8 to the turbocharged AER P60 V6 resulted in the team missing the first two rounds of the series at Silverstone and Spa.

Hayden said that a testing programme has already been schedule ahead of the start of the 2016 season.
