Porsche completes final endurance simulation before Le Mans 24 Hour

Porsche completed more than 6000km of testing with its Le Mans-spec 919 Hybrid during its final endurance simulation ahead of the 24 Hours next month

A solo 919 fitted with a Le Mans aero kit ran at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in Spain, with all nine of Porsche's LMP1 drivers present.

ANALYSIS: Why F1 racer Nico Hulkenberg's WEC debut was hard to judge

A total mileage of 6364km (3954 miles) was recorded during the four-day test, which began with performance testing of the new aerodynamics and finished with an endurance run.

Porsche LMP1 team principal Andreas Seidl said: "The new aero kit worked as expected.

"The conditions were really challenging in Aragon with ambient temperatures up to 37°C.

"It brought all systems to their limits and it was hard work for the entire team, but we are happy with the results.

"Now we go and focus on finishing the three race cars for Le Mans in Weissach [home to Porsche's base] next week."

Porsche is not releasing images of the Le Mans-spec 919 before its first public appearance at the official pre-race Test Day on May 31.

Its LMP1 technical director Alex Hitzinger has said that the low-drag 919 for Le Mans will not be easily distinguishable from the specification of car that ran at the opening rounds of the World Endurance Championship at Silverstone and Spa.
