Peugeot commits to new Le Mans Cup

Peugeot will continue its rivalry with Audi in the ACO's new Intercontinental Le Mans Cup this autumn

The new series is the first step towards creating a fully-fledged global contest linking the Le Mans Series, the American Le Mans Series and the planned Asian Le Mans Series.

The inaugural ILMC commences with LMS finale the AUTOSPORT 1000kms at Silverstone on 10-12 September, and also includes ALMS showpiece Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on 2 October, and a currently undetermined race in Asia in November.

Audi has already announced that it will tackle the ILMC, and now Peugeot has also committed to the new championship.

The French team said it would reveal its full ILMC plans, including its driver line-up and the number of cars it will run, later in the year, but that it would compete in all three rounds.

Peugeot and Audi will face each other for the first time this year in the Spa LMS race next month, which both are entering in preparation for June's Le Mans 24 Hours.
